Our mission is to provide temporary respite care for companion animals in times of human crises.
Safe Animals For Everyone (S.A.F.E. Spokane) offers a network of foster homes for companion animals, providing a safe and loving environment for pets while their humans improve their life situations. Many individuals can’t afford boarding, which shouldn’t prevent them from pursuing necessary surgeries or treatments or lead them to surrender their pets. Our mission is to help people keep their beloved animals and enhance their well-being.
Currently, no local organizations address this issue, resulting in many pets being surrendered to shelters, often never to be reunited. We ensure a nurturing environment with access to vaccinations and basic care for these animals.

We ask our foster volunteers to be able to commit to 60 days or less. You would foster an animal in your home, commit to its care as one of your own and return it to its owner when the owner requests return of the animal. The owner’s story may or may not be successful, but our commitment is to give a person the opportunity to improve themselves while knowing their loved one is being kept safe in a loving environment. We can only help in our client’s journey to success, but knowing their loved one is safe allows them room to focus on their own success.
We take individuals on a case-by-case basis. Our foster network is small, and the demand is large. We sometimes turn people away because there simply isn’t room.

We currently serve most of Spokane County. We are always looking for foster homes and foster homes outside of the current area would allow us to expand our service area.
If we can find a foster home, we’ll help you out. Keep in mind our foster network is small and the need is large. We are always looking for more foster homes.
No. We only provide short term foster care. We aim to give an opportunity to people whose path to success is blocked because providers won’t allow their animal to accompany them on their journey.
No. We find that owners that have had a longer time bonding with their animal are more motivated to succeed while their animal is in foster care. And, because of the
limited foster network and the fact that people in need are being turned away,
we need to prioritize the situations with the greatest motivation and chances
for the owner’s success.
